Terms of Service

1. About Vela

Vela is a logistics and dispatch platform built for worker-owned cooperatives. We charge a flat $0.15 platform fee per transaction — the remainder goes directly to the courier cooperative.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Vela, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If using Vela on behalf of a cooperative, you represent you have authority to bind that organization. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

3. User Roles

Vela serves three types of users:

• Clients — place delivery orders
• Drivers — cooperative members who fulfill orders and receive payouts
• Administrators — manage their co-op's operations

4. Payment Terms

All payments are processed through Stripe. Vela retains a flat $0.15 platform fee per completed delivery. The remaining amount transfers directly to the cooperative driver upon job completion. Refunds for unclaimed jobs are issued in full.

5. Cooperative Obligations

Cooperatives agree to: (a) ensure drivers are properly licensed and insured; (b) maintain accurate cooperative information; (c) comply with all applicable laws regarding commercial delivery operations.

6. Prohibited Conduct

• Transport of illegal goods or substances
• Harassment or harm to other users
• False information about delivery contents
• Circumventing the platform fee structure
• Unauthorized access to other accounts or data

7. Limitation of Liability

Vela provides technology infrastructure only and is not a transportation carrier. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Vela's liability is limited to the platform fee collected on the relevant transaction.

8. Termination

Vela may suspend or terminate access for users who violate these terms or engage in fraudulent activity. Cooperatives may cancel their account at any time by contacting support.
